Steve Smith Becomes Third Australian to Score 11,000 Test Runs

Sydney (Sports Desk): Australian veteran batter Steve Smith has reached a major milestone by completing 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He has become the third Australian and the 12th batter in the world to achieve this feat.

Smith reached the milestone on the fourth day of the second Test against South Africa. Despite an impressive performance by the South African bowlers, he top-scored for Australia in the first innings with 28 runs, crossing the 11,000-run mark in Test cricket.

Before Smith, former Australian captains Ricky Ponting, with 13,378 Test runs, and Allan Border, with 11,174, had achieved this milestone.

The 37-year-old Steve Smith made his Test debut in 2010. So far in his Test career, he has scored 37 centuries and 45 half-centuries.

Smith ranks sixth on the all-time list of batters with the most centuries in Test cricket, while he holds second place among Australian batters.
