Birmingham (Sports Desk) — Pakistan Test team interim coach Mike Hesson has expressed surprise at the major sudden changes made to the national Test squad during the series against England.
Speaking at a press conference in Birmingham, Mike Hesson said that he had no role in the decisions to remove players from the team and that he himself was not fully aware of the situation.
Mike Hesson said that he had been busy preparing for the Asian Games in Japan, but was called back to Pakistan at short notice and subsequently sent to England.
According to him, he was not consulted about the decisions regarding changes to the squad. He is now focusing on forming a balanced team with the available players to achieve victory in the third Test.
Mike Hesson described Salman Ali Agha as one of the best Pakistani players of the past few years and said that he did not know the reason why Salman Ali Agha had been dropped from the team.
He described Ali Usman as a talented bowler but said that under the current conditions in England, it is difficult to field a finger-spinner who cannot also contribute with the bat.
The interim coach acknowledged that the sudden changes to the squad must have caused distress to the players, but said that it is now important to focus on the third Test and preparations for the future rather than the past.
