Islamabad (Web Desk) — The Supreme Court of Pakistan and the National Information Technology Board (NITB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting mutual cooperation in the fields of cybersecurity, software development and digital services.
According to a statement, both institutions will also undertake joint initiatives to improve IT infrastructure and enhance technical capabilities. The MoU was signed by Supreme Court Registrar Sohail Muhammad Laghari and NITB Director General Faqirullah.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb also attended the ceremony.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi said that the effective use of technology in the judicial system is essential to make judicial proceedings easier, more efficient and accessible. He said technology should be used to further improve access to justice and judicial services for litigants and lawyers.
He said it is essential to provide lawyers and litigants with easy and convenient communication facilities with judicial institutions, while cybersecurity holds particular importance in protecting judicial data, digital platforms and institutional systems.
The Chief Justice said effective cybersecurity measures would be implemented to make the digital transformation of the judiciary secure, stable and sustainable. For this purpose, close cooperation with the Ministry of IT, NITB and other relevant institutions would continue.
According to the statement, Ministry of IT Secretary Zarrar Hashim Khan assured the Supreme Court of full technical support, while NITB would provide assistance in cybersecurity, software development, digital services and IT infrastructure.
The statement said the MoU represents an important step toward modernizing judicial services, securing information systems and improving facilities for litigants and lawyers.
