Islamabad (Pakistan News): The Supreme Court has sought a complete record and detailed report from Adiala Jail authorities regarding meetings held with PTI founder Imran Khan during his imprisonment.
The apex court directed the jail administration to submit a comprehensive report containing complete details of the meetings within three weeks.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, heard the case. During the hearing, Islamabad Advocate General stated that more time was required to prepare a detailed report, after which the court granted a three-week extension.
During the hearing, Additional Advocate General Punjab Wasim Mumtaz objected to the maintainability of the petitions, saying that the Punjab government had reservations regarding the hearing of these applications.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked that the court should be informed about how many meetings took place with Imran Khan, when these meetings occurred, and who met him, with complete details provided.
The court also referred to the assurance given in the Islamabad High Court that no media talk would be held outside the jail and questioned whether media discussions outside the jail were a violation of that commitment.
PTI founder’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja argued that the Islamabad High Court’s decision was not unanimous. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar responded that if the decision was not unanimous, a review petition could have been filed in the High Court against it.
Later, the Supreme Court ordered the jail administration to submit the complete meeting record and detailed report within three weeks and adjourned the hearing.
