Kabul (Monitoring Desk): A local Taliban commander was shot dead in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, while his brother has been taken into custody on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
According to media reports, Afghanistan’s security situation has once again come under the spotlight, with the Taliban administration facing challenges in ensuring the safety of both the public and its own senior members.
The Afghanistan International reported that the local Taliban commander was attacked in Chaparhar district on Friday while he was visiting his home during leave.
According to a statement issued by Taliban authorities, the deceased commander was identified as Musafir. His brother has been arrested, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
Reports said the commander was shot dead inside his home, while authorities continue to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding the killing.
