CALIFORNIA (Web Desk): American company Tesla has unveiled its next-generation Roadster sports car, which demonstrated the ability to briefly rise into the air, rotate mid-air and land back on the ground during a demonstration.
According to the report, the vehicle features thrusters inspired by SpaceX rocket technology, enabling it to perform short aerial jumps.
The new Roadster uses compressed-air thrusters and approximately 10 nozzles. During the demonstration, the car was shown moving backwards on a ramp, leaping into the air, rotating while airborne and then landing safely.
However, the vehicle has not yet demonstrated the ability to sustain flight like a conventional aircraft or helicopter.
According to Tesla, the new Roadster can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than one second, while its claimed top speed exceeds 230 miles per hour.
The company has presented the vehicle as a showcase of its advanced technology and engineering capabilities. Elon Musk said production of the Roadster is planned to begin in 2028.
The Roadster concept was first unveiled in 2017, with deliveries initially promised for 2020. However, the project has faced repeated delays.
