New York (Web Desk): Popular social media platform TikTok has permanently suspended an advertising account promoting Musk, a documentary about billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
According to a report by an American magazine, TikTok took the action citing repeated violations of its policies on political content.
The report said the film’s distributor was informed on Friday afternoon that its advertising account was being permanently shut down. As a result, the company will no longer be able to purchase advertisements or spend money promoting content related to the film.
However, the documentary’s regular, unpaid account remains active on TikTok. Due to the ban, the distributor will be unable to pay to increase the reach of its posts.
A spokesperson for the film’s distribution company confirmed the account’s suspension and expressed disappointment over the decision. The company has also filed an appeal against the action.
The development comes as the documentary’s theatrical release has expanded to more than 470 cinemas across North America.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, Musk examines Elon Musk’s business empire, his acquisition of the social media platform Twitter, and his political activities.
The film also explores Musk’s involvement with the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
