Trump and Xi Jinping Agree on Keeping the Strait of Hormuz Open and Expanding Cooperation

Beijing (Monitoring Desk) — In a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, an agreement was reached to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and ensure the free flow of energy supplies.

According to the White House, during the meeting held in Beijing, both leaders emphasized global energy supply security and regional stability.

According to Chinese state television China Central Television, Xi Jinping appreciated a new direction in bilateral relations with the United States, saying that ties between the two countries will move forward on a stronger foundation.

He stated that China and the United States will expand cooperation in areas including trade, agriculture, health, tourism, and law enforcement.

Xi Jinping also urged the United States to handle the Taiwan issue with extreme caution.

Reports further said that both leaders also discussed global affairs including the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Korean Peninsula situation.
