Turkish President Erdogan Strongly Condemns Houthi Attack on Riyadh

Ankara (Monitoring Desk): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has strongly condemned the Houthi attack on Riyadh, calling for diplomacy and dialogue to ensure peace and stability in the region. He said preparations are underway to give defence cooperation between Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia a permanent and effective institutional framework.

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East and challenges to regional security, the Turkish president expressed strong solidarity with Saudi Arabia, stating that Türkiye remains committed to its principled stance on safeguarding peace and stability in the region.

Speaking after a Turkish Cabinet meeting, President Erdogan said work was underway to transform the joint defence agreement between the three countries into an effective and sustainable institutional framework. Preparations are also being made to present the agreement to the Turkish Parliament for approval in the coming days.

President Erdogan said the scope of conflicts in the region continues to expand. However, despite the crises unfolding around it, Türkiye is strengthening its position as a centre of stability, trust and peace.

He noted that tensions are escalating across the region, stretching from Lebanon to Yemen and Iran, while efforts to use proxy forces, particularly to achieve various objectives, are also continuing.

The Turkish president stressed that all countries in the region should recognise their shared responsibility and promote mutual cooperation to resolve regional issues. Differences should be settled through negotiations, dialogue and diplomacy rather than war and confrontation.

According to Erdogan, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is among the fundamental principles of Türkiye’s foreign policy.
