Typhoon Bavi Kills 15 in Philippines

Manila (Monitoring Desk): At least 15 people have been killed in various landslide incidents in southern Philippines due to Typhoon Bavi, which is being considered one of the most powerful storms in several decades.

According to officials, the severe storm has also become a threat to several countries in East Asia. The storm, spreading across an area of nearly 1,000 kilometers, is moving through the Pacific Ocean towards Taiwan.

According to the weather department, the effects of the storm may bring heavy rainfall to northern and eastern areas of Taiwan, as well as Japan's remote islands. After that, the storm is expected to hit the coastal areas of southeastern China.

Precautionary measures have been started in various countries due to the storm. Several flights have been canceled, while educational institutions in multiple areas have been closed. Due to the possibility of an emergency situation, citizens have started storing food and other essential items, resulting in shortages of supplies at several supermarkets.

On the Philippine island of Mindanao, several families were buried under debris due to nighttime landslides, while rescue teams are engaged in searching for missing people and assisting victims.

Officials say that moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue in different parts of the Philippines today and tomorrow, increasing the risk of further floods and landslides.
