Islamabad (Commerce Desk) The Power Division has confirmed the occurrence of unannounced load shedding in the country, stating that due to electricity shortages, load management had to be increased beyond the announced schedule. According to the Power Division, reduced hydropower generation has caused the electricity shortfall to rise to 4,500 megawatts, prompting distribution companies to carry out additional load management.
Officials said that during peak usage hours last night, electricity demand was recorded at 18,000 megawatts. Load management was limited to nighttime hours, while electricity supply remained normal during the daytime.
The statement further added that in the coming days, an increase in water releases from dams and the availability of imported gas are expected to improve electricity generation, which will help reduce load shedding.
