According to U.S. officials, the potential sale of advanced long-range bombs to Saudi Arabia has been approved. The value of this defense deal is estimated at approximately five billion dollars.
According to the U.S. Department of State, potential approval has also been given for the sale of specific fighter jet engines worth $750 million to Saudi Arabia.
The Department of State says that the proposed defense deals will help Saudi Arabia improve its ability to address current and future threats. In addition, Saudi defense preparedness, military requirements, and defense cooperation with the United States will also improve.
The United States has also approved two potential defense deals for Oman and Iraq. Oman has been approved for a $188 million deal for the maintenance and support of fighter aircraft.
Similarly, potential approval has been given for the sale of Bell 412 EPX helicopters worth approximately $150 million to Iraq.
