Washington (Monitoring Desk): A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Tommy Pigott, has said that the trilateral agreement between Lebanon, Israel and United States provides a clear and effective pathway that could help bring an end to the long-running cycle of conflicts in the region.
Speaking in an interview with Al Jazeera, the spokesperson said the agreement is an effort to end the “cycle of endless conflict,” under which Lebanon’s governmental sovereignty is being restored while also ensuring Israel’s security.
According to the spokesperson, the United States continues to emphasize its commitment to strengthening Lebanon’s institutional capacity and governance structures. As part of this process, pilot zones are being established where Lebanon can begin to reassert and reinforce its sovereignty.
The U.S. Department of State said these measures are part of broader efforts aimed at achieving long-term peace and stability in the region.
