Washington (Monitoring Desk): U.S. President Donald Trump has said that American forces are carrying out operations against Iran following an alleged incident in which a U.S. helicopter was shot down.
In an interview with a U.S. media outlet, he said that responding to the incident is necessary and that the response must be strong and effective, adding that operations are currently underway.
According to the president, the military action has been ongoing since the incident, although he did not provide details about the nature, location, or targets of the operation.
Earlier, he stated that an Iranian side targeted a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, but both pilots aboard the aircraft remained safe.
The U.S. president said the incident has further escalated already rising tensions in the region, while Washington’s response is continuing.
