Washington (Monitoring Desk) — US Vice President JD Vance has said that the United States has withdrawn its B-1 bomber aircraft from a British air base as a precautionary measure.
According to JD Vance, the decision was taken to protect US personnel from potential threats. The aircraft had been stationed at Britain’s RAF Fairford base and had been used in recent US operations against Iran.
The development comes after five British citizens were arrested near the base last week on suspicion of preparing an alleged terrorist act.
Later, a British-Iranian citizen was also detained; however, all the suspects have since been released on bail.
According to NATO military sources, US facilities in Britain face a serious threat from Iran. Iran has dismissed as baseless the allegations that it was involved in the alleged plot targeting the base.
