Sydney (Sports Desk): Australian cricketer David Warner has received support from Cricket New South Wales after being taken into custody for allegedly driving under the influence.
According to reports, the former Test opener was arrested by police two days ago and is scheduled to appear in court next month in connection with the case.
In an official statement, the New South Wales cricket body said it is fully aware of the incident and takes matters like drunk driving seriously, but will stand by Warner during this difficult time.
Officials also stated that further steps will be taken to raise awareness among players regarding safe driving practices.
It is worth noting that Warner is currently leading Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, where the team has won all three of its opening matches.
Warner has scored a total of 93 runs in these matches, including a half-century, and is expected to rejoin the squad soon.
