Lahore (Sports Desk) — Former Pakistan cricket team captain Wasim Akram has called on the authorities to adopt a fair approach toward the captain who led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 World Cup and the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Speaking on the podcast Old Boys, New Balls, co-hosted with former England captain Ian Botham, Wasim Akram thanked all the former captains who recently signed a petition in support of the PTI founder.
Wasim Akram was an important member of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup-winning team. He said he remains concerned about the former captain and remembers him as a friend, while also missing him as a mentor and leader.
The former fast bowler said that he had not even seen a picture of the PTI founder for the past three years.
Wasim Akram appealed to the government to treat the PTI founder fairly, just as other politicians had been treated in the past.
