Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar) — Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has said that every attempt to carry out terrorism in Pakistan from Afghan soil will be responded to forcefully.
Speaking to the International Parliamentarians Congress, Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan believed in peaceful coexistence and that peace was the path to development. However, he said Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be mistaken for weakness.
He said Pakistan had been hosting Afghan citizens for decades. There was a difference between the views of the Afghan people and the government, and the Afghan people should be provided with rights and economic improvement.
The information minister said terrorist hideouts existed in Afghanistan and that the Afghan government would have to move away from the mindset of terrorism. He said it would be unfair to the Afghan people if the Afghan government failed to achieve economic prosperity because of this mindset.
Attaullah Tarar said lasting peace in Afghanistan would only be possible when the Afghan interim government considered terrorism a problem. The Afghan government would also have to understand that no society could progress without education.
He said Pakistan had also sent delegations to Afghanistan for the establishment of peace. Terrorism carried out against Pakistan from Afghan soil had been responded to in the past and would also be responded to forcefully in the future.
