California (Web Desk): WhatsApp is working on a new cloud backup feature for iPhone users that will allow chat backups to be stored directly on WhatsApp’s servers instead of Apple’s iCloud.
According to technology website WhatsApp Beta Info, the feature is currently under development and is not yet available, even for beta testers.
At present, WhatsApp chat backups on iPhones can only be stored in iCloud. Apple provides 5GB of free cloud storage, which is shared across photos, videos, documents, device backups, and data from other applications. As a result, WhatsApp backups often consume the available storage space quickly.
To address this issue, WhatsApp is introducing its own cloud backup service. Once available, users will be able to choose whether to back up their chats to iCloud or directly to WhatsApp’s servers, depending on their preference.
According to the report, iCloud will remain the default backup option, and users who wish to continue using the existing backup method will not need to make any changes to their settings.
The new feature is expected to provide iPhone users with greater flexibility, enhanced privacy, and additional cloud storage options for backing up their WhatsApp data.
