WhatsApp Preparing to Add Third-Party AI Agents

WhatsApp Preparing to Add Third-Party AI Agents

California (Web Desk): WhatsApp is preparing a new feature that will allow users to add third-party artificial intelligence agents directly to their private chats. The feature is reportedly being introduced to a limited number of Android beta testers.

According to the report, users will not need to open a separate app or website to communicate with an AI agent. Once an agent is set up, it can be used on WhatsApp like a regular contact.

The feature will potentially be available in WhatsApp settings, where users will be able to select the AI agent’s name and profile picture, as well as create an API. It can be used on the platform where the relevant AI bot is available.

According to reports, WhatsApp will limit the number of AI agents that can be added to a single account. Through this feature, users will be able to use separate bots simultaneously for different tasks such as scheduling and customer support, without the need to repeatedly switch between different apps.

Regarding privacy, it has been reported that AI agents added by users will be kept separate from other parts of the account. An agent will only be able to access its conversation with the user and will not be able to view other chats or account information.

However, end-to-end encryption will not be available for conversations with AI bots. This is because communication between the user and the AI agent will be established through a Meta service, which will connect the agent with its developer.
