YouTube Adds Custom Feeds in Major Mobile App Update

California (Web Desk): Video-sharing platform YouTube has announced several new changes to its Android and iOS mobile apps, aimed at improving the home page experience and making it easier for users to find videos based on their interests.

According to a report by technology website 9to5Google, the new update includes a redesigned top bar and a feature that allows users to create custom feeds.

The report said YouTube is moving the Subscriptions tab from the bottom of the screen to the top bar. A new Subscriptions button will appear alongside the Home button, with a red line beneath it.

In addition, new feeds such as Live Music and Movies & TV are being added to the top bar, allowing users to access relevant videos and other content more easily according to their preferences.

Custom Feed Creation Feature

The most significant addition in the new update is a plus (+) button, which will allow users to create custom feeds based on topics they like. Using this feature, users will be able to select a specific topic and create a feed displaying videos related to that subject.

This will reduce the need for users to search repeatedly for content matching their interests, allowing them to watch videos on their preferred topics in one place.

According to the report, users of the free version of YouTube will be able to save up to three active custom feeds, while YouTube Premium subscribers will be able to save up to eight feeds.

Initially Available in the United States

The report said the custom feeds feature is initially being introduced to users in the United States, with a possible rollout to other countries at a later stage.

YouTube aims to make it faster and easier for users to access videos that match their interests through these changes, while further improving the mobile app’s home page experience.
