Harare (Sports Desk): Zimbabwe defeated Bangladesh by 25 runs in the first One-Day International, taking a 0-1 lead in the three-match series.
In the first ODI played in Harare, Bangladesh’s entire team was bowled out for 116 runs in the 32nd over while chasing Zimbabwe’s target of 142 runs.
For Bangladesh, Nurul Hasan scored 31 runs, while Towhid Hridoy made 25 runs. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed for 10, Tanzid Hasan for 8, Soumya Sarkar for 6, Taskin Ahmed for 5, Mustafizur Rahman for 5, Najmul Hossain Shanto for 3, Mosaddek Hossain for 3, and Rishad Hossain for 3 runs, while Nahid Rana remained not out with 5 runs.
For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans and Richard Ngarava bowled brilliantly, taking three wickets each, while Blessing Muzarabani and Newman Nyamhuri dismissed two players each.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first by Bangladesh, Zimbabwe’s team was bowled out for 141 runs in 36.4 overs.
For Zimbabwe, Newman Nyamhuri scored 33 runs and captain Richard Ngarava made 27 runs, while Innocent Kaia scored 26, Ben Curran 18, and Brian Bennett 17 runs.
Among other batsmen, Brad Evans scored 3, Clive Madande 2, Sikandar Raza 1, while Craig Ervine and Wesley Madhevere were dismissed without scoring. Blessing Muzarabani remained not out with 4 runs.
For Bangladesh, Nahid Rana delivered a destructive bowling performance, taking six wickets, while Taskin Ahmed took two wickets and Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed one player.
