Canada (Showbiz Desk) Renowned Indian Punjabi and Hindi film actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh had to briefly pause his performance during a concert in Calgary, Canada, when a large number of pro-Khalistan supporters staged a protest.
During the show, part of the ongoing Aura Tour, the protesters raised slogans and waved flags against alleged atrocities on Sikhs and other minorities in India. In response to the situation, Diljit Dosanjh temporarily stopped singing and instructed his team to bring the situation under control.
Videos of the incident later went viral on social media.
It is worth noting that tensions between India and elements associated with the Khalistan movement in Canada have surfaced in the past as well. In this context, reports of strained relations between India’s intelligence agency RAW and Canada have also been highlighted.
During the tenure of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, relations between the two countries became tense when Canada adopted a strong stance regarding India’s alleged involvement in certain incidents on its soil. The protest by Khalistan supporters reportedly took place in this broader context.
