Chaos in Philippine Parliament After Reported Gunfire

Manila (Monitoring Desk): Severe chaos broke out in the Philippine parliament after Senator Ronald dela Rosa, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (International Criminal Court) on crimes against humanity charges, reportedly took refuge inside the Senate building to avoid arrest.

According to reports, sounds of gunfire were also heard inside the parliamentary complex, causing panic among lawmakers, journalists, and staff.

The Interior Ministry said that several armed individuals attempted to enter the Senate building, but security personnel responded, leading to an exchange of fire, after which the attackers fled. One suspect was later arrested, and investigations are ongoing.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Senator Ronald dela Rosa later fled the parliament building. He is facing an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in connection with crimes against humanity allegations.

Dela Rosa is known as a close ally of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who also faces allegations related to extrajudicial killings during the anti-drug campaign.
