Washington (Monitoring Desk) A member of the US Congress has strongly criticized the Defense Secretary over the deaths of American soldiers in Kuwait and called for his resignation.
Democratic Congressman Pat Ryan alleged during a congressional hearing that six US soldiers stationed in Kuwait were killed in an Iranian drone attack, raising serious questions about the Pentagon’s preparedness and strategy.
During the hearing, Pat Ryan questioned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, asking whether intelligence reports had indicated that the location could be a potential Iranian target and whether adequate air defense systems were in place. He also questioned why troops were deployed despite possible risks.
In response, Pete Hegseth said that the US military had taken precautionary measures for the safety of its personnel and added that the fallen soldiers are remembered daily.
Later, speaking to the media, Pat Ryan cited statements from surviving personnel, claiming they were not prepared to counter a drone attack. He accused the Defense Secretary of downplaying the seriousness of the incident and formally demanded his resignation.
