Increase in Attacks on Christian Community in Occupied East Jerusalem Raises Concern

Occupied East Jerusalem (Monitoring Desk) Following a recent attack on a French nun, the Christian community in occupied East Jerusalem has expressed deep concern over rising violence in the region.

According to Arab media, Christians living in Israel say that incidents of harassment, assaults, and insulting behavior against them have increased significantly over the past few years.

Statistics show that 31 incidents against Christians were reported in the first three months of this year, while 113 attacks were recorded last year. These include targeting religious figures, spitting, verbal abuse, and desecration of places of worship in daily life.

Victims say that due to a lack of trust in the police, many incidents go unreported, making the situation more serious.

The report, citing experts, suggests that growing extremism and nationalist trends in Israel are major reasons behind the violence, while some radical religious and settler groups are also believed to be involved in such incidents.
