Rising Iran–US Tensions in Strait of Hormuz, Dispute Over Missile Strike Claims

Tehran / Washington (Monitoring Desk) Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated in the Strait of Hormuz region, with both sides presenting conflicting claims over a reported incident.

According to Iranian media reports, a US warship allegedly attempted to enter near Iran’s Jask port, and after ignoring warnings, it was reportedly targeted with two missiles, forcing it to retreat.

However, the US military has rejected the claim, stating that no such incident took place and no American vessel was attacked.

Al Jazeera reported that the situation comes amid earlier warnings from Iranian military leadership that US forces entering the Strait of Hormuz could be targeted.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy route, and any escalation in the area could have significant effects on international markets.

Iran maintains that it will ensure security of the passage “at all costs,” while reports also suggest signs of preparations for a prolonged confrontation.

It is further reported that Iran is working to re-activate its missile and drone capabilities, while internet restrictions continue in the country, affecting millions of people.
