Mumbai (Showbiz Desk): Renowned Bollywood filmmaker and producer Karan Johar has openly criticized the increasing trend of artificial promotion and paid publicity in the film industry.
In a recent interview, he said that in today’s era it has become difficult to judge the real popularity and success of films, as promotional campaigns have become so commercialized that distinguishing between genuine appreciation and manufactured praise has become challenging.
According to Karan Johar, promotional strategies based on appearances and display are rapidly increasing in Bollywood, where large sums of money are spent to portray films as successful. He added that this trend has affected audience trust and made it harder to identify real quality.
He emphasized that an artist’s true recognition should come from their work rather than expensive promotional tactics. He said that if the content is strong, it naturally attracts the audience’s attention.
Karan Johar further said that in the current situation, an important question arises whether audiences are genuinely liking a film or if it is merely the result of a well-orchestrated publicity campaign.
