Punjab Decides to Ease Madrassa Registration, Amendments Proposed in New Law

Lahore (Pakistan News) The Punjab government has taken an important step to further simplify and improve the registration system of madrassas by deciding to introduce amendments in the Madrassa Registration Act.

According to sources, the government has proposed legal amendments under the Societies Registration Act to relax the condition of separate provincial registration for madrassas.

Under these amendments, madrassas already registered with the Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan and other religious boards will not be required to register again in Punjab.

It is also under consideration that federal-level registration of madrassas will be given legal recognition at the provincial level, while a plan has been prepared to link the data of federal and provincial madrassas.

According to the proposed decision, any madrassa already registered with a federal registration authority will not need separate registration in Punjab, providing relief from double registration, additional paperwork, and complex verification procedures.

Sources said that these amendments were prepared after consultation with religious scholars and madrassa administrators and have been sent to the provincial cabinet for approval.

Officials from the Punjab Home Department said that a detailed briefing will be given to the cabinet, after which final approval will be granted.
