Washington (Monitoring Desk) U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Iran will be allowed to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2026, provided that the global football body confirms its approval.
According to details, following confirmation from FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding Iran’s participation, the U.S. President also expressed agreement with the decision.
Speaking to reporters, Donald Trump said that if FIFA has approved it, he has no objection and Iran should be allowed to play in the World Cup, which will be held next year in North America during June and July.
Earlier, FIFA President Gianni Infantino had stated at the FIFA Congress in Vancouver that Iran would participate in the tournament as scheduled and play its matches in the United States.
According to media reports, Iran’s team camp will be based in Tucson, Arizona during the World Cup, while Iran has been placed in Group G alongside New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt.
Iran will begin its campaign on June 15 in Los Angeles against New Zealand.
