Moscow (Monitoring Desk) Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the Ukraine conflict is approaching its final stage and Russia is ready for a final peace agreement.
Speaking to journalists, President Putin said that Moscow is prepared to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in any country, but such a meeting should only take place for the signing of a final agreement. According to him, Russia’s main objective is to ensure its security so that no future threat emerges from any side.
He said that Russia has made several proposals for prisoner exchanges with Ukraine, including a list of 500 prisoners on May 5, but no response has yet been received from Kyiv.
The Russian President described former US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange from May 9 to 11 as positive on humanitarian grounds, adding that Russia had accepted it immediately.
He also claimed that during Victory Day celebrations, Russia was prepared to respond to any possible attacks and had informed China, India, the United States, and other partners in advance.
Putin said that the United States is interested in resolving the Ukraine conflict, but it is fundamentally a matter between Russia and Ukraine. He also blamed NATO expansion for the current crisis, accusing Western countries of previously deceiving Russia.
He further said that he is not opposed to meeting Zelenskyy, but Russia is ready for talks if any serious proposal is presented. In the end, he also expressed concern over the situation in Iran, saying that rising regional tensions could be harmful for all parties involved.
