Harmuz Strait Clearance Could Take Six Months, Immediate US Military Operation Not Feasible: Pentagon

Washington (Monitoring Desk) Despite strong statements by US President Donald Trump, the Pentagon has briefed Congress on key facts regarding a potential situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a report by the Washington Post, the Pentagon informed the House Armed Services Committee that if the United States were required to launch a military operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, it would not be possible immediately.

The briefing stated that clearing naval mines allegedly laid in the maritime zone would be an extremely complex and time-consuming process, requiring at least six months.

Officials said that a large-scale mine-clearing operation would be needed, which becomes even more difficult in a conflict environment.

The Pentagon clarified that such a mission would require a ceasefire-like environment to achieve effective results.

According to the report, US officials told Congress that while the United States remains committed to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, real-world conditions and technical challenges limit the possibility of immediate success.

It is worth noting that the Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime route for global oil trade, and any disruption in the region could have serious consequences for the global economy.
