Islamabad (Pakistan News): Pakistan has once again come into global diplomatic focus as developments continue between Washington and Tehran, with former US President Donald Trump claiming that the next round of Iran–US talks will be held in Islamabad.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said US representatives will be present in Pakistan for the negotiations, adding that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will also be part of the delegation. According to him, the parties are close to reaching an agreement.
He further stated that Iran is being offered a “fair and acceptable” proposal, and warned that if a deal is not reached, strict measures could follow. Trump said the issue with Iran will be resolved one way or another, either through a friendly agreement or a tougher approach.
Diplomatic sources say the US delegation is expected to arrive in Pakistan in two phases, while the Iranian negotiating team may also visit Islamabad. Pakistan has previously played a key role in indirect contacts between Iran and the United States.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the two sides recently exchanged messages through Pakistan’s mediation, raising hopes of progress in the negotiation process.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that any unlawful pressure or actions could further escalate tensions in the region and disrupt the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
It is worth noting that Islamabad has previously hosted early indirect engagements between Iran and the US after decades, strengthening Pakistan’s image as an important diplomatic platform.
