Lahore (Commerce Desk): Sui Gas has extended the ban on new domestic gas connections indefinitely, while connections for commercial tandoors, hotels and other sectors have also been suspended from this month.
According to sources, thousands of consumers remain without gas supply despite paying fees for urgent connections. Disruptions in RLNG supply have also increased the gas shortfall in the existing system.
Sources say gas demand has increased several times over with the onset of winter, making it difficult to maintain supply even to domestic consumers. Despite this, the ban on new household connections remains in place.
Sui Gas officials said the Ministry of Petroleum imposed the ban on new connections, adding that their restoration is likely only after the Iran-US war comes to an end.
