US Launches Another Attack on Iran’s Qeshm Island, Explosions Reported

WASHINGTON (Monitoring Desk): The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal has claimed that the United States has launched another attack on Iran’s strategically important Qeshm Island.

According to the newspaper, US officials confirmed the attack, saying it was the latest in a series of limited and undeclared operations carried out by Washington against Iran in recent weeks.

US officials said the attacks inside Iran were defensive in nature and aimed at preventing Tehran from targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Iranian media had also reported intense explosions on the strategically important Qeshm Island and around the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, five powerful explosions occurred one after another on Qeshm Island, shaking nearby buildings with their intensity. Local residents also claimed to have seen unidentified military aircraft flying overhead.

Following the explosions, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that two US MQM-170 reconnaissance drones had been disabled and seized using advanced electronic warfare systems south of Qeshm Island. It also claimed that a US MQ-9 Reaper drone had been shot down in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz.
