ISLAMABAD (Pakistan News) – The government has decided to fully shift the passport issuance system to e-passports and introduce a home delivery service for citizens.
A meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was held at the Passport and Immigration Headquarters, where a principle decision was taken to convert the entire passport issuance system to e-passports.
The meeting was informed that initial arrangements for home delivery of passports within the country and abroad have been completed, and the service will be launched soon, under which citizens will receive passports at their doorstep.
According to the meeting, additional charges will be applied for premium services based on their cost, while a cashless system will be implemented in passport offices from July 1.
It was further stated that online passport applications will be shifted to the Pak ID platform to make the process faster and more efficient.
The Interior Minister said that the implementation of the e-passport system will eliminate the chances of forgery and fraud, while the policy regarding business passports will be finalized soon in consultation with the FBR.
