Lebanon (Monitoring Desk): Lebanese security sources say Hezbollah has been preparing for a possible new war with Israel for the past three months after receiving financial assistance from Iran.
Hezbollah suffered heavy losses in two wars with Israel since 2024, with thousands of its fighters and several senior leaders targeted, while a large portion of its weapons arsenal was destroyed.
Israeli forces have occupied villages in southern Lebanon considered Hezbollah strongholds, while political pressure on the Lebanese government to disarm the group is also mounting.
According to Reuters, despite these challenges, Hezbollah remains determined to fight Israel. Lebanese security sources said the group had used the pause in hostilities since June to rearm, focusing particularly on obtaining explosives and manufacturing drones.
According to the sources, Iran has provided Hezbollah with hundreds of millions of dollars to strengthen its military capabilities. This funding is separate from approximately $200 million that Iran provided to support displaced families.
