Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people on Kashmir Black Day, paying tribute to the sacrifices of men, women and children.
In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari urged the international community to play its role in resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He said the day provided an opportunity to renew the commitment to strongly support the Kashmiri people’s struggle. He added that Kashmiris continued to face conflict, restrictions and deprivation of their fundamental rights, while Pakistan would maintain its moral, diplomatic and political support for them.
In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said October 27 served as a reminder of a tragic chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite 79 years having passed, the Kashmiri people remained deprived of their right to self-determination.
He said the courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people were a clear testament to their struggle. The Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions, as lasting peace in South Asia would not be possible without a just and peaceful settlement.
The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its moral, diplomatic and political support for the Kashmiri people.
