Islamabad (Pakistan News) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to accelerate work on a 100-megawatt solar energy project in Gilgit-Baltistan and ensure its early completion.
A review meeting regarding the project was held under the chair of the Prime Minister, where officials provided a detailed briefing on the federal government’s solar initiative in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Prime Minister said that the federal government will bear all expenses of the 100MW solar power project for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He also directed that independent third-party validation be ensured to maintain transparency in the project.
During the briefing, it was informed that an 18MW solar project for government buildings in Gilgit-Baltistan is already underway, under which solarization projects in various divisions will be completed during 2026.
It was further stated that work is also ongoing on an 82MW solar energy project for domestic consumers in Gilgit, Skardu, Chilas, and Khaplu.
Federal ministers and senior officials attended the meeting.
