Iranian Economy Remains Stable Despite War and Sanctions

Tehran (Monitoring Desk) — Despite the war situation, international sanctions, and months of ongoing tensions with the United States, Iran’s economy has not faced complete collapse; however, millions of citizens are dealing with unemployment and economic difficulties.

According to reports, Iran, with a population of more than 92 million, is among the world’s major oil-producing countries, while Tehran has been pursuing a policy of self-reliance due to strict sanctions imposed for several decades.

Iran has promoted the agriculture, industrial, and services sectors to reduce its complete dependence on oil revenues. In addition, informal trade, border businesses, undeclared oil transfers, and maritime trade networks have also supported the country’s economy.

According to economists, Iran’s economy has been facing sanctions and pressure for a long time, which has led it to establish a system based on alternative trade routes, local production, and domestic resources. Due to this, the country’s economic structure has remained intact despite severe challenges.
