London (Sports Desk): England’s renowned white-ball batter Jos Buttler has surpassed former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard to become the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history.
Jos Buttler achieved this historic milestone while representing Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred tournament, where he played an aggressive innings against Welsh Fire.
Since an innings in The Hundred is equivalent to 20 overs, its runs are included in T20 cricket records.
After setting the record, Jos Buttler said that this achievement is a matter of great pride for him. He said becoming the highest run-scorer in T20 history is a wonderful moment, though another player may break this record in the future.
Speaking about criticism over his poor form and a disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, Buttler said that situations in cricket change quickly. A few months ago, he was struggling for form, but now he is performing at his best.
He said that during a period of poor form, a player has two choices: either lose confidence or make a strong comeback through hard work.
Kieron Pollard had scored 14,803 runs in 746 T20 matches, while Jos Buttler achieved the record in 521 matches.
In the list of highest run-scorers in T20 cricket, Chris Gayle is third with 14,562 runs, while England’s James Vince is fourth with 14,449 runs.
For Pakistan, the record for the most runs in T20 cricket belongs to Shoaib Malik, who has scored 13,571 runs in 557 matches.
