Islamabad (Pakistan Desk) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that he salutes the patience and resilience of the people of Kashmir, adding that the public movement has now spread across Kashmir and its effects are also being seen in different parts of Pakistan.
In his video message, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the protest of the people of Kashmir under the leadership of the Kashmir Public Action Committee is continuing, and the sit-in has remained ongoing for more than two months.
He said that after tensions escalated on June 5, 2026, and talks between the government and the committee reached a deadlock, the committee contacted him. A large delegation met him and formally requested him in writing to play the role of a mediator.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that he was grateful to the Kashmir Action Committee for trusting him, accepted the request for mediation, and remained in contact through Maulana Saeed Yousaf Khan, the Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Sardar Kamran Azam Khan.
He said that during the negotiation process, while the committee placed its trust in him and requested mediation, the government did not give the matter due importance.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman appealed to the Kashmir Action Committee, in the current situation, to reconsider its future steps, allow more time for resolving the issue, and avoid taking any major action while giving another opportunity for a solution.
He said that the situation is extremely painful, people have been injured and lives have also been lost. Despite this, he paid tribute to the patience, tolerance, and resilience of the Kashmiri people. He expressed hope that with the cooperation of all parties, a fair and lasting solution to the issue could be found.
