Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to expand the petrol relief scheme by providing relief to motorcycle, Qingqi and rickshaw users purchasing less than five litres of petrol.
According to a government statement, a relief of Rs100 per litre on petrol continues nationwide under the special relief scheme. In light of suggestions and feedback received from the public, the prime minister has approved the new facility.
Under the new decision, motorcycle, Qingqi and rickshaw users purchasing less than five litres of petrol will receive a weekly relief of Rs500 through a token. One token will be issued each week, with a total of four tokens provided per month.
The existing procedure will remain in place for vehicles up to 800cc. Such users will receive a relief of Rs100 per litre on 10 litres of petrol every 10 days, with three tokens issued monthly.
The government has also announced that registration messages for eligible individuals under the scheme will be made free of charge. In addition, motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws that are 20 years old have also been included in the scheme. All relevant vehicles registered after January 1, 2006, will now be eligible for registration.
The prime minister is personally monitoring the scheme and has directed further expansion of the relief programme and instructed that the facility be provided to consumers in an easy, dignified and uninterrupted manner.
