Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed deep concern over reports that Noreen Khan Niazi, sister of the party’s founder Imran Khan, has fallen ill and been transferred from Kot Lakhpat Jail to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
According to lawyer Rana Mudassar Umar, Noreen Niazi experienced heart discomfort and initial medical tests are being conducted.
In a statement, PTI’s central media department said the family had not been informed about Noreen Niazi’s transfer to the hospital. The party said that, if the reports were accurate, the situation would be contrary to humanitarian principles, transparency, and the fundamental rights of people in custody.
PTI has sought an immediate explanation from the Punjab government and relevant authorities regarding Noreen Niazi’s alleged unlawful detention and the risks to her health. The party has demanded that she receive the best possible medical care under the supervision of a cardiologist, that necessary tests and treatment be provided without delay, and that her family be given verified information about her health.
The statement also called for the family to be allowed to meet Noreen Niazi and inquire about her well-being. The party urged people to pray for her speedy recovery.
