Pakistan’s digital progress accelerates, smartphone usage exceeds 71%

Pakistan (Commerce Desk) Pakistan has shown remarkable progress in the field of digitalization, where the usage rate of smartphones has increased to 71.6%, while the share of basic mobile phone users has declined to 28%.

According to the economic survey, the total number of mobile and fixed phone users in the country has exceeded 207.2 million. The mobile connection penetration has also increased to 82.6%, which is higher compared to the previous year.

The report states that the number of broadband users has reached 161 million, while by March 2026 more than 160 million mobile phones have been locally manufactured in the country.

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) is the capital where the report was released. Pakistan is among the countries where internet data is available at relatively low cost, and the total internet usage volume in the country is estimated to have reached more than 30,000 petabytes.

According to experts, these figures clearly reflect the rapid progress in Pakistan’s digital economy, online business sector, and internet accessibility.
