Lahore (Pakistan News): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that everyone alleges that Punjab has taken away the share of others, whereas Punjab has never deprived anyone of their rights and has continued giving to others from its own share.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the electric bus service in Multan, Maryam Nawaz said the objections were not actually against her but against Punjab’s development. She said some people object to the government aircraft costing Rs9 billion, although the aircraft is not her personal property but is meant for the Punjab Chief Minister, and she would not take it home.
She said that during the floods, she also reached affected people by boats. Every chief minister has access to an official aircraft, but objections are raised only against her. According to her, those criticizing her do not have a problem with the aircraft but with Maryam Nawaz’s work.
The Chief Minister said she paid approximately Rs27.5 million from her own pocket for using the aircraft to attend her daughter’s graduation ceremony.
Maryam Nawaz said some people came from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to attack Punjab, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister forcibly sat in a police vehicle to create a spectacle. However, she said the visit to Lahore by those who came from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa failed.
Regarding the electric bus service, she said the regular fare for passengers has been set at only Rs20, while travel will be free for women, students, persons with disabilities and senior citizens above the age of 60.
She said the Green Bus Service is being extended to the farthest limits of Punjab so that the people of the province can have access to modern and affordable transport facilities. Green electric buses will operate on all routes in Multan, while wheelchairs and ramps will also be available for persons with disabilities.
According to Maryam Nawaz, CCTV cameras have been installed in the Green buses for the safety of women. Every person living in Punjab is her responsibility, and under her government, no one will travel on the roof of a bus.
She said she had arranged for a modern cancer machine to be brought from China for Lahore’s Mayo Hospital, while she had also inaugurated a second such machine in Multan. Two women have been treated with the machine, and she also interviewed them. Both treatments were completed within 45 minutes.
