Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a special petrol relief scheme to reduce the additional financial burden on the public caused by rising oil prices in the global market.
In his statement, the prime minister said the government fully understands the difficulties people are facing due to higher petrol prices and will not leave them alone during this difficult time.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, a special scheme has been introduced to provide relief to users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and small cars.
Under the scheme, owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and vehicles up to 800cc will receive a Rs100 per-litre relief on petrol. The discount will be available on 20 litres of petrol per month for two- and three-wheelers, while vehicles up to 800cc will receive the discount on 30 litres per month.
The prime minister said the scheme will be implemented in Islamabad from the night between next Monday and Tuesday, while across the country, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, it will take effect from the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
He said registration for the scheme has started today, and the public will be informed about the procedure through an awareness campaign.
Shehbaz Sharif also thanked the provincial governments for providing information regarding motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars and for cooperating in the registration process.
