Ryan ten Doeschate Steps Down as India Assistant Coach

Mumbai (Sports Desk) — Indian cricket team assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has resigned from his position and is set to become part of the coaching staff of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

According to Indian media reports, Ryan ten Doeschate informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision while he was in England; however, an official confirmation of his resignation has not yet been announced.

Reports state that his contract with the Indian team was from July 2024 to July 2026, which has now been completed.

Ryan ten Doeschate joined the Indian team’s support staff after Gautam Gambhir was appointed as head coach following Rahul Dravid. He continued to perform important responsibilities for the team in batting and fielding departments.

According to Indian media, during his tenure, India won the 2025 Asia Cup and successfully defended the ICC T20 World Cup title in 2026; however, the team faced difficulties in Test cricket.

Reports suggest that India suffered a defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while the team also lost Test series against New Zealand by 3-0 and South Africa by 2-0 on home soil.

It is worth mentioning that Ryan ten Doeschate had previously been a player for Kolkata Knight Riders and was part of the team that won the IPL titles in 2012 and 2014.
