Seoul (Web Desk): South Korean technology company Samsung is working on developing a large foldable tablet with a screen that could measure up to 17 inches when unfolded. However, the company has not yet officially confirmed the project.
According to initial reports, the device’s screen would measure approximately 8 inches when folded, although final design details have not yet been revealed.
One possible design features a 17-inch screen that folds outward, with half of the display remaining active when the device is closed. Another design could feature a 17-inch internal foldable screen alongside a separate 8-inch cover display, similar to those found on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold smartphones.
The first design could raise concerns about screen protection because the main display would remain exposed when folded outward, while the second design could increase the device’s price.
Reports about Samsung’s foldable tablet have surfaced before. In 2023, there were reports that the company planned to launch a tablet under the name Galaxy Z Tab, but the project did not materialise at the time.
Samsung Display has showcased several prototypes of large foldable screens at various technology exhibitions, demonstrating the company’s progress in this technology. However, the device’s success will depend on whether Samsung’s mobile division sees sufficient market demand for it.
