Riyadh (Monitoring Desk): Saudi Arabia has emphasized the need to continue the process of negotiations to reduce regional tensions and establish peace.
According to international media, while chairing a cabinet meeting in Jeddah, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman stressed taking all possible measures to create peaceful conditions and ensure regional security and stability through diplomatic solutions.
Mohammed bin Salman also briefed the cabinet on his recent telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.
The Saudi cabinet welcomed global participation in the multinational maritime defense alliance established by the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia and 14 other countries formed this alliance to protect shipping in key maritime routes of the Middle East.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the alliance has been created to improve maritime security, safeguard international sea routes, and address threats facing trade and transportation.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that this initiative will provide a new framework for cooperation to protect international shipping routes and energy supplies against growing threats in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden.
Meanwhile, a US official has expressed hope that an agreement with Iran could be reached soon, which may lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
It is worth noting that after the failure of an agreement between the United States and Iran, Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz. However, later, shipping movement through this important maritime route was temporarily allowed.
